Beach volleyball wins three matches over the weekend – University of Lynchburg – Lynchburg Athletics

Lynchburg, Va. — The University of Lynchburg beach volleyball team went 3-2 during their Friday and Saturday slate of matches at Liberty University. 
On Friday, the Hornets defeated Gaston 5-0, then beat Lancaster Bible 5-0 and Wake Technical 4-1 on Saturday. Lynchburg fell to Liberty on Friday night and fell to Richard Bland 3-2 on Saturday. 
On Friday, all of Lynchburg’s matches against Gaston went the minimum. Kailey Keough and Jordan Palmer, who went 3-2 as the No. 1 duo on the weekend, beat their Gaston opponents 21-15, 21-13. On the fifth court against Gaston, Margo Fox and Sydney Phillips had the largest margin of victory with 21-7 and 21-13 decisions. 
SJ Yanz and Amanda Trapp at the second court and Fox and Phillips at the fifth court were the two duos to win against Liberty in the 3-2 loss Friday. 
Yanz and Trapp were once again victorious in a Lynchburg defeat to kick off the morning on Saturday against Richard Bland. Laney Burnes and Tori Williamson won in three sets on the fourth court. 
Lynchburg swept Lancaster Bible with only one match going to three sets. The Hornets swept on courts 1-4, and after falling by two points in the first set on the fifth court, Fox and Phillips rallied for 21-9 and 15-10 Ws against Lancaster Bible. 
The Hornets once again swept courts 1-4 in a 4-1 win over Gaston, but they weren’t so lucky in the only three setter against the Rhinos. Landon Spotts and Lydia Nelson cruised to a 21-7 win in the first set on the fifth court but dropped the next two closely contested sets. Virginia Zalinski teamed up with McKenzie Ingrassia on the fourth court against Gaston for a 21-8, 21-9 win and Ingrassia’s first victory of the season. 
The Hornets (2-1 NCAA, 6-3 overall) head to Belton, Texas on the campus of Mary Hardin-Baylor for their next five matches beginning Friday, March 8.
